SM5703 Lithium Charging IC (A8,A8000,J500F,Galaxy Tab)

The SM5703 Lithium Charging IC regulates the charge to lithium cells in many Samsung devices.

This IC is fairly failure prone. Failure is normally observed as a device that wont increase in percentage despite saying charging, or no indication of charging at all even after replacing port.

You can test the function of this IC by probing components around it with a multimeter and confirming you have 5V input and Battery voltage present. If 5V is present, and battery voltage does not increase (or there is no current draw from USB), you can confirm failure.

If you have a Samsung device with a charging issue, and you can confirm it has an SM5703 in it, chances are it has failed.
